Once engaged in orthodontic treatment, we will see you on a regular schedule, which varies depending on your chosen treatment. In most cases, we see patients on a 6-10 week rotation.
Upon completion of treatment, the braces will be removed and the teeth will be polished. Post-treatment x-rays and pictures are then taken to evaluate treatment response compared to the initial orthodontic records. Retainers are then made to hold the teeth in place.
Retainers do need to be worn for a LIFETIME in order to keep you teeth in the ideal position. Don't hesitate to call us if you need your retainers checked. MAKE SURE TO BRING YOUR RETAINER TO THE RETAINER CHECK APPOINTMENT.
It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist a minimum of once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.
